Grief Support Group Training for Therapists
Jill presents a detailed curriculum to show you how to run your own solution-focused grief support group. A key component of running a successful and effective grief support group is understanding the nuances of the dying process and the fact that the five stages of grief are more allocated to anticipatory grief. Jill is committed to showing you how to facilitate a support group with a goal of finishing leftovers, reducing trauma, educating your members about grief, normalizing it, and then moving to reorganizing and recovery, with a strong emphasis on boundaries and supporting clients in the direction they choose. Therapists Coping with Loss
We're trained to hold space for our clients and be there for them, and yet another key aspect of life that is missing in our training is how we're supposed to handle our own losses. Three days of bereavement leave and then, like superhuman rockstars, we emerge ready to be our best therapists for our clients? No thank you! We do have losses, we need to be our best professional selves and serve our clients, and we also need to take care of ourselves. During this course, Jill will be walking you through how to take care of yourself in the midst of your own losses while continuing to work. Dementia 101
The unfortunate reality about Dementia is that it's still largely unknown and, therefore, (especially) therapists and licensed professionals hardly know what to look for. Jill is on a mission to change that! During this course, Jill will not only introduce you to the 12 different types of dementia, but she will explain the differences in each and show you what to look and listen for with your clients or your clients' loved ones. Finally, the grief of dementia for both the person with dementia, and the family members/care takers will be addressed. Pregnancy and Infant Loss
While approaching this incredibly difficult type of loss, Jill will challenge what you may have been previously taught (or not taught) about miscarriages and infant/child loss. From showing you how to be aware of what to look for during the intake process, to making your space the ideal place for these losses to be felt in a way where recovery and reorganization can begin to happen. Loss of Intimate Partner
Who better to learn about the loss of an intimate partner from than The Rebellious Widow? Reviewing everything from the "widow(er) rules" to what not to say to those grieving, Jill will teach you all the tricks she had to learn first hand in how to break those rules; and make sure that you can help the surviving partner avoid common errors. Doing Grief Better
The one that started it all. In this typical 4-part training session, Jill walks you through a better understanding of not only the dying process, but grief and how it manifests in your clients and how it affects them not only emotionally, but physically and cognitively.
